The ABC's of SUCCESS

I want to share some thoughts on success which to a large extend explains why some people are successful- really successful. As simple as these points are, if you Read, understand, put it to heart and make use of it daily- it will help you a long way.
1. How you Think is Everything: Always be positive. Think success, not failure. Beware of a negative environment. This trait is one of the most important of the ‘successful’. Your belief that you can accomplish your goals has to be unwavering. The moment you say to yourself “I can’t…”, then you won’t. Remove all impossibility mentality from your mind- strike it out from your dictionary.
2. Decide Upon Your True Dreams and Goals: Write down your specific goals and develop a plan to reach them. Someone may ask, ‘you mean I should write down my dreams and goals and develop a plan to reach them- like a project plan?’ Yes, that’s exactly what this mean. Goals are those concrete, measurable stepping stones of achievement that track your progress towards your dreams.
3. Take Action: Goals are nothing without action. Be like Nike and ‘Just do it’. Take action everyday to move you closer to your goals. A good idea is nothing without the will to make it happen. When you see an opportunity, leap on it. Ask yourself this: have you taken action today towards your goals?

4. Never Stop Learning: Go back to school or read books. Get training and acquire skills. Become a life long learner. Learning prepares you for newer opportunities. Ask yourself this: what have I learned today?
5. Be Persistent and Work Hard: Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Never give up. Every story of success entails long hours of work. There is no getting around this, and there is no free lunch. Success is a number game: the more you call, the likely you are to get a yes. And if you’re working towards something you are passionate about- is it really work? He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.
6. Learn To Analyze Details: Get all the facts, all the inputs. Learn from your mistake. Use your common sense. And note this: getting all the facts and making a decision with incomplete data are both traits of successful people. Always know when and where to pull the trigger. Spend time gathering details, but don’t catch ‘analysis paralysis’. In order words, plan well and don’t let your plan get ahead off your ability to make them happen.
7. Focus Your Time: Don’t let other people or things distract you: Remain laser focused on your goals and surround yourself with positive people. Be as fast as the wind; quiet as the forest; aggressive as fire; and immovable as a mountain.
8. Don’t Be Afraid to Innovate: Be different. Following the herd is a sure way to mediocrity. Follow through that break-out idea you have. Evaluate yourself: be ready to change- if not your attitude or your dreams, then your surroundings. Ask yourself this: what will I do if I wasn’t afraid? We poison our lives with fear of burglary and shipwreck and the house is never burgled, and the ship never goes down. Reach out- live your dream life. Creativity is essential: just because it was your first idea doesn’t necessarily mean it was your best idea.
9. Deal and Communicate with People Effectively: Successful people develop and nurture a network by treating people openly, fairly, and many times firmly. There is nothing wrong about being firm. Be outspoken and stand by your conviction. You may be out-numbered, but that doesn’t mean you’re wrong. Even if you are proven wrong in the end, people will appreciate and admire the strength of your convictions. You can dream alone, build alone, strive alone, but true success always requires the help and support of others. You can never know too many people in your chosen field. Ask yourself: how do I deal with people?
10. Be Honest And Dependable: Take responsibility. Always act as if someone is watching you, because someone always is. If you aren’t honest when you’re alone, then you’re never truly honest. When you act ethically from your heart in all that you do, there will be consequences and I guarantee you they will be positive.
